FEE EGYPT PROGRAMS
Foundation for Environmental Education
Established in 1981, the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) is one of the world’s largest environmental education organisations, with over 100 member organisations in 83 countries. With 40 years of impactful experience in ESD, our new strategic plan – GAIA 20:30 – prioritises climate action across all five programmes to address the urgent threats of climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental pollution.
Our educational programmes, Eco-Schools, Learning about Ecosystems and Forests (LEAF) and Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE), empower young people to create an environmentally conscious world through a solutions-based approach. Our Green Key and Blue Flag programmes are globally recognized for promoting sustainable business practices and the protection of natural resources.
Green Key
More than 8,000 hotels and other establishments in 90+ countries are Green Key certified.
The Green Key certificate is the leading standard for excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the tourism industry. This prestigious certificate represents a commitment by businesses that their premises adhere to the strict criteria set by the Foundation for Environmental Education. A Green Key assures guests that, by choosing to stay with a Green Key establishment, they are helping make a difference for the environment. The high environmental standards expected of these establishments are maintained through rigorous documentation and frequent audits. Green Key is eligible for hotels, hostels, small accommodations, campsites, holiday parks, conference centres, restaurants and attractions.
